It is crazy to think October is already here! I was reflecting through past blogs and FB posts to remind myself of some major highlights this year. We entered the year with great anticipation and on our knees in much prayer. By God’s grace, we took on a lot of change and made a leap of faith towards the calling of full-time ministry. We have experienced God’s continued faithfulness to us in so many tangible ways! As we seek Jesus, He is our GREATEST FIND and He shows us more and more of “the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!” Romans 11:33
We have been intentional to build rest into our daily lives, but have learned over the years that different seasons require more or less demand on the entire family. This past year has definitely felt demanding as we juggle multiple jobs, school, running an AirBnb, and more. We are very thankful for the wonderful relationships God has given us to help keep all these things operating well! As we prepare to welcome a new loved one into our lives, we are excited to enter a season of a little bit less demand. We are prayerfully removing things from our lives as we see God’s continuous leading to shepherd our kids well, train in ministry and serve His people.
Through God’s abundant provision, Drexel has been able to step away from one of his part time jobs. We are beyond grateful for the perfect fit it was during this year of transition. The relationships and flexibility were nothing but a blessing! However, as demands for his time increase with a growing family, seminary, and more, we are taking another step of faith and trusting God to continue providing where He leads us. I joked with Drexel that I don’t know too many men who wouldn’t question their wife’s numbers on the budget and simply resign right before adding a 7th child to their family. Drexel’s faith and gifted leadership inspire me daily! He will never sacrifice time with the family, spiritual growth or impacting people’s lives for more money in the bank.
My main goal for much of the summer and early fall was to faithfully homeschool the kiddos. Together we accomplished that goal and we look forward to time off while we soak up a ton of newborn snuggles! Each child is thrilled to welcome a new baby into our home. It seems we are all ready and it is only a matter of days before Baby King is here.
We appreciate the many prayers we have received regarding labor, birth and the adjustment to life as a family of 9. We continue to ask for prayer for an even deeper faith as we trust God to meet our every need throughout this upcoming season. From a safe birth/recovery, to Drexel taking care of all of us postpartum, to meals, to time for Drexel’s homework — we already see God going before us. We look forward to sharing the sweet gift of another life with you!
“How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen” Romans 11:33b-36
With All My Love,
P.S. We realized after the photo shoot that the entire time Mom was saying “be silly” while Dad was saying “be serious.” Oops! It made for a good laugh, but that explains the very mixed faces in nearly all of the pictures. Such is life!
