Praise God that Christ has come and we celebrate His birth this Holiday season. The hope, the answers, the relief, the peace, and ultimately the sacrifice that the birth of Jesus represents gives us much to be thankful for.
We are moving to Texas! Drexel has taken a job at Baylor University as the Manager of Learning and Leadership and will start on Jan 9. Johnna found the job, which ignited a chain of events that was blessed by God the entire way. After the on site interview in September (Drexel’s first time in Waco), put our house on the market on Oct 1(accepted an offer on Oct 6), Johnna had a baby on Nov 4 (number 5 if you are keeping count), packed up our house completely on Nov 19, drove the family to NC with a completely full vehicle on Nov 21, Thanksgiving with family, sold the house on 29 November (the timing was divine), and finally Drexel finished up his last couple weeks at the Academy to rejoin the family in NC for Christmas. Whew!! God is good.
We do not have time for New Year’s resolutions. And no… we do not know if this is our last baby. There is a lot you can pray about for us: 1) Our family’s mission: Team King commits to repentance to our Father the Creator, trust in Jesus the Holy One, accountability through our family’s unity, intentional discipleship led by the Spirit, and submission to the just authority of the Bible. 2) Finding a church home in Texas. 3) Finding a neighborhood and house/home in Texas. 4) The mental and emotional adjustment from military to civilian life. 5) Johnna’s strength and endurance as she has recently assumed more responsibility in her role as Director of Operations. More is required of her each year – life coach, leadership coach, maintenance manager, advisor, and logistics coordinator – unfortunately, her pay has remained the same. 6) Drexel’s success at work.
Our oldest is growing up fast as the first of 5 children 5.5 and under. The second born is still our creative one. Our only girl is an angel and knows she can do little harm. The next boy is pure goodness from the Lord, which happens to be his name. Finally, our newest addition is precious and we are thrilled he is a part of the family. His name means shelter and we definitely needed the Lord’s covering and strength this 7th year in our marriage. We are constantly being conformed to His image, and this year God did a lot of chiseling. The Word is capable of piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart, and that is often a difficult process. Parenting will continue to be a constant adventure and prayer request. Part of the reason for transitioning out of the Marine Corps is so we can focus on our greatest calling which is discipling our children. However, we know that the testing of our faith develops perseverance and perseverance when finished makes renders us useful and fruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To that end, we are particularly excited for 2017. New job, new home, new church, new friendships, new opportunities, even new President, but same Jesus. We are also pursuing a new family blog and parenting ministry as well. Keep up with all the fun on FB, Instagram or Twitter.
